Dome is a hemispherical roofing structure where all the lines smoothly converge to one point on the top. Our specialists have been being engaged in design, manufacturing and installation of the domes for churches and mosques of different kinds and sizes for many years. During this time we have worked out several technologies of manufacturing and facing of dome structures.

Stages of dome production

• Designing of a dome and its facing;
• Production and assemble of a dome frame;
• Facing of the dome with metal tiling or seam panels;
• Installation of the dome on the temple.

Production of domes of a large diameter is performed at the construction site or in our manufactory. Firstly a metal frame is produced and assembled; meanwhile the dome structure is made prefabricated and the final assemble is performed at the site.

Kinds of domes facing

According to the types, architectural traditions and preferences of the customer the domes can be faced in different ways:

• Seam panel;
• Checker;
• Lathed;
• Ploughshare;
• Combination of some techniques.

There are other varieties which a rarely applied but there is a possibility to make a special individual view of the roof covering of the dome for any design.

Materials applied for domes facing

Roofing steel. It can be zinc-coated or covered with polymer. Its advantages are longevity, resistance to corrosion and affordable price. Polymer coatings have a rich color range that is also important from an aesthetic standpoint. Service period of steel roofing of the dome is not less than 50 years.

Roofing copper. There can’t be any living microorganisms and a moss among others on the copper roof of the dome. Copper is covered with patina – a layer of oxides of green color, under the influence of the environment. The major advantages of roofing copper are beauty and a long service period. Copper for covering of domes can be used both in its pure form and in the form of different alloys. Some kinds of alloys have golden color at much lower price in comparison with braid gold. The service period of a dome cooper roof is not less than 100 years.

Roofing aluminum. Aluminum differs in corrosion resistance, longevity, low weight – about 3 kg per sq.m, it also has many polymer coatings and a wide color range. The disadvantage of roofing aluminum is its reaction to temperature differences therefore when installing an aluminum standing seam roofs of the domes they apply special cleats. A service period of aluminum roof of the dome is not less than 50 years.

Zinc-titanium. Zinc-titanium-copper alloy has a high level of plasticity that considerably facilitates a process of profiling metal. The disadvantage of zinc-titanium is its reaction to temperature differences therefore when installing a zinc-titanium standing seam roofs of the domes they apply special cleats. Service period of the roof of the dome from zinc-titanium is not less than 100 years.

Stainless steel. Facing the dome with stainless steel covered with braid gold or titanium nitride spraying. TIN coating (titanium nitride spraying) is a thin-film protection of metal not exposed to oxidation and arising out of titanium-nitrogen compound. It helps to strengthen the cutting edges, decreases a friction coefficient and protects from external damages. The dome covered with titanium nitride can have various colors including gold. Service period of the dome of titanium nitride is not less than 50 years.

Dome shapes

A dome shape depends on the architecture, the customer’s wishes, selected kind of roof covering and other factors. The major kinds are:

• Russian bulbous domes;
• Byzantine helmet-shaped domes;
• Roman domes with spires.

The whole range of works – from the development of technical design brief till the dome installation – is performed by qualified specialists under strict control of the requirements of project documentation, technology of production and existing standards. We can guarantee a high quality of roofing works, compliance with contractual deadlines and a perfect result.
