Reasons for leaking of waterproof barrier in the balcony and the terrace

• Bearing base – slab;
• Vapor barrier layer;
• Heat protection if there is a warm room below;
• Waterproofing layer (rolled materials, roofing mastics);
• Top protective coating over waterproofing layer depending on the kind of operation – paving slabs, gravel, wood flooring etc.

A terrace construction can also include draining, filtering and loading layers, leveling screeds, encapsulation materials and so on. For the waterproofing any combination of materials is perfect if they suit for loads and are able to provide reliability and longevity.

Places of joint of the waterproofing floor of a balcony or a terrace with the walls must be carried out with the use of profiled steel or plastic skirting and encapsulation materials for sealing of gaps and joints. Fence tubes coming through the waterproofing must be sealed by their base like the boxes stuffed with mastic.

Defects in these places can be quickly and easily found. But if the waterproofing of your terrace or a balcony is broken so it’s impossible to do without removing the top operated covering.
